Our Story

1 year of growing premium strawberries with patience, science and deep respect for our land.

Our Origins

Rooted in Machakos. Grown with purpose.

Machakos Strawberry Farm is built on a passion for growing fresh, high-quality strawberries through responsible and sustainable farming practices. Nestled in the heart of Machakos County, our greenhouse farm is dedicated to producing strawberries that are naturally sweet, carefully cultivated, and harvested at peak freshness.

What started as a small backyard venture at home has steadily grown through consistency, patience, and a commitment to quality. From a humble beginning, the farm has expanded to over 4,500 strawberry plants currently under cultivation, with a target of reaching 10,000 plants by the end of July 2025. This growth reflects our dedication to meeting the increasing demand for fresh, locally grown strawberries while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Today, we proudly serve households, businesses, and fresh produce lovers looking for strawberries they can trust. At the core of our farm is a simple belief: great strawberries come from healthy soil, careful farming, and giving every fruit the time it needs to ripen naturally. From planting to harvest, every step is handled with care to ensure freshness, flavor, and quality in every punnet.

We are especially passionate about freshness and intentionally prioritize selling strawberries harvested the same day — or at most a day before — they reach the market. This helps preserve their natural sweetness, texture, and nutritional value, giving our customers a farm-fresh experience with every purchase. As we continue to grow, our long-term vision extends beyond strawberries. We aim to diversify into the cultivation of other fruits and vegetables, building a sustainable and reliable source of fresh produce for our community and beyond.

How We Grow

The Machakos Method

Every punnet you receive has passed through a rigorous, disciplined journey — from soil preparation to your table.

01
🌱

Soil Preparation

Healthy strawberries begin with healthy soil. We continuously enrich our soil through the use of well-composed manure and organic additives such as BSF (Black Soldier Fly) frass. Regular soil testing helps guide nutritional supplementation and proper soil pH balancing to create the ideal growing environment for our plants. Our sandy loam soil, enriched with organic matter, supports strong root development, healthy plant growth, and the production of flavorful, high-quality strawberries.

02
🌿

Planting

We use certified disease-free runner plants, precisely spaced to allow optimal air circulation, sunlight penetration, and healthy growth across every row. Proper spacing and careful planting practices help minimize disease risk while promoting strong plant development and consistent fruit quality. In addition to fruit production, we also plant and sell mature, disease-free seedlings to support farmers and home growers looking to establish healthy, productive strawberry farms. Our seedlings are carefully nurtured to encourage vigorous growth, strong rooting, and high-quality fruit production

Hand Harvest

Every berry is carefully picked by hand at peak ripeness to ensure maximum sweetness, freshness, and quality. We do not rely on machines — meaning no unnecessary bruising, minimal waste, and no compromise on the quality of our strawberries. Our harvesting process is done with close attention to detail, allowing only well-ripened, healthy fruits to make it to market. Once harvested, the strawberries are gently handled and quickly prepared for delivery to help preserve their natural flavor, texture, and freshness for our
